Iron Creek to Sawtooth Lake
Iron Creek to Sawtooth Lake is an 8.5-mile hike that is considered moderate. You’ll gain 1,758 feet of elevation complete with stunning views of the skyline. You’ll travel past some mountain peaks and Alpine Lake before reaching the main attraction, Sawtooth Lake. Nestled at the base of Mt. Regan, this sparkling body of water is the perfect place to sit and relax after a few hours of hiking. Local tip: Climb to the top of the rock formation on the northeast corner of the lake for amazing views!
Pettit and Toxaway Lakes Loop
If you’re looking for a great trail in the Sawtooth National Forest for hiking and backpacking, you will love the Pettit and Toxaway Lakes Loop! The entire loop is 17.7 miles and can be done in one day, but we suggest staying out overnight to thoroughly enjoy the gorgeous views. On your way through this trail, you’ll encounter alpine lakes, dense forests, and tons of wildlife. Keep in mind that it is best used from June to October, pack accordingly, and you are good to go!
Fish Hook Creek Trail
If you’re looking for an easy, leisurely hike, try the Fish Hook Creek Trail. This trail is a 5-mile round trip just a few hundred yards from Redfish Lake Lodge. This trail is rated as easy, so people of all ages can enjoy it! You’ll get to comfortably travel through peaceful meadows and forest until you reach the final destination. Relax by the creek in an expansive meadow as you take in the beauty of the Sawtooths.
