The Top Redfish Lake Fishing Spots
Redfish Lake Boat Launch
The Sandy Beach Boat Ramp offers some of the best fishing on Redfish Lake. You’ll find the ramp on the eastern shore of the lake along with a beach that runs up to the Redfish Outlet Campground. Early morning and late afternoon are the ideal times to fish here, especially when there is little boat traffic coming in and out of the lake.
Redfish Lake Creek Inlet
You can spot Rainbow and Dolley Varden trout swimming near the southern end of the lake where Redfish Creek pours into the clear, shallow waters. The flowing waters make this a fantastic place to go fishing in Redfish Lake. Pack your gear and take the Redfish Trailhead Boat Shuttle to the stream inlet where you can cast your line out and enjoy the scenic views. Take a short hike along the trail up the creek to see some beautiful waterfalls.
Other Fishing Spots Around Redfish Lake
Redfish Lake Creek and the Salmon River
Some of the best fishing near Redfish Lake occurs where the Redfish Lake Creek empties into the Salmon River. The fast flowing waters in between Little Redfish Lake and Highway 75 provide with rich breeding grounds and a route into the largest river in the Sawtooths. Choose from several fishing spots along the creek, but we recommend either casting a line in near a small bridge near the Chinook Bay Campground or where the stream pours into the river.
High Mountain Lakes
Bench Lake and Goat Lake are just a couple of the high mountain lakes that provide a great fly fishing experience near Redfish Lake. Just pack up your gear and go for a hike through the mountains to your final destination. It’s also a great way to see the gorgeous nature (and some fantastic views).
Tip: Make sure you purchase your fishing license and any other wilderness permits you might need on the Idaho Department of Fishing and Game’s website. You can also get your license and any fishing equipment you need in Stanley.
