1. Boat Box Hot Springs
If you don’t want to venture far from Stanley, then Boat Box Hot Springs is the place to go.
This small wooden soaking tub may not sound impressive at first, but this heated pool features some of the best views along the banks of the Salmon River. A pipe stemming from the side hill above the tub feeds water controlled by the user to this Stanley, Idaho, hot springs location. Make sure you add this to your list of places to visit during your trip!
2. Sunbeam Hot Springs
Sunbeam Hot Springs consists of a network of user-created pools with gravel and sand bottoms along the Salmon River. Rocks piled around the spring source trap warm geothermal waters for soaking and relaxing. This is one of the best hot springs near Stanley, Idaho, because of the serene riverside location. There is also a historic bathhouse near the small parking area, but you are not able to enter it.
3. Kirkham Hot Springs
The Kirkham Hot Springs is a fantastic stop along the route between Boise and Stanley. Travel down the staircase next to the Payette River to reach these soaking pools surrounded by small waterfalls. Each geothermal pool here varies in temperature, so we recommend testing the water first before hopping in and enjoying it! This is a very popular hot spring near Stanley, Idaho, so get here early in the morning or later in the afternoon for lesser crowds.
Tip: There is a $5 parking fee during the park hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
4. Pine Flats Hot Springs
Not only does Pine Flats Hot Springs boast scenic views across the Payette River at the stunning mountain wilderness, but it also features a waterfall that cascades warm water into the pool. The main pool is entirely natural, but there is also a separate area at the top of the waterfall constructed with rocks and a tarp that’s easier to access for visitors with kids. If you only have time for one hot spring adventure during your time here, this is an excellent choice.
5. Challis Hot Springs
It may take an hour and a half drive to reach Challis Hot Springs, but it is well worth the trip. You can soak in the Large Pool and the Therapy Pool during your visit.
